Why the Rush?

Slow down and appreciate each moment!
We are living in a world where everyone is rushing around, completing activities as fast as they can and multitasking everyday. Even writing that sentence down, I can feel how exhausting living a life like this would be.
If you have lived a life like this for many years, you will most likely feel some discomfort with the idea of slowing down as your body and mind have adapted to living a stressful, anxious, adrenaline pumped constant flight or fight mode state for so long that there will be a natural resistance to change.
I hear people say “I haven’t got time” or “I need this completing today” or “I am so busy”. Bizarrely individuals say it in such a proud demeanour. And then on the other side we have people saying “I didn’t do anything at the weekend” or “works quiet at the moment” Somehow people say this in a way that they are embarrassed or ashamed.
Slowing down, having quiet rest time is an amazing thing, giving you the opportunity to reflect and recharge.
Far too often, people walk on such a mission to get from A to B with their mind elsewhere, walking at speed, on the phone texting or talking to someone. This experience is not giving your body and mind a chance to calm down.
You have a choice which road you want to go down in life, both get you to the same destination. You can choose to observe the road you are walking down or not. When you are walking down the road you have the opportunity to embrace the world around you or miss it completely. You decide!
When you next go for a walk, whether it be on the way to work or a leisurely stroll, consider:
- What do you hear?
- What do you see?
- what do you smell?
- How do you feel?
- What was your favourite part of the walk?
